Webmaster's notes:

I have found the death registration for George on the Scotland's People website. He died as a pauper in the poor house.
Linda Leiper has contacted the website about her link to this family. She wrote:

My 3rd great grandfather was George Mutch B 1798 D 1874. He was married to Jane or Jean Kirkton and had 4 children. George Mutch B 1819, William Mutch B 1823 D 1908, Jane Mutch B 1829 D 1908 ( my 2nd Great Grandmother) and Elizabeth Mutch B 1833 D 1907.

I have a copy of the 1871 Census, that has him living at 3 Upper Cowgate, Old Meldrum, with two grandaughters - Elizabeth Mutch (13) and Mary O'Brien (7) and he is listed as being a Pauper then, which is 3 years before his death.

She has since provided details of daughter Jane and James Mitchell's descendants, including their Jane's youngest son Fredrick Alexander George who is her grandfather.
The information from the 1871 census lead me to the details of daughter Elizabeth's marriage and children.
