I have a copy of Son James' marriage record which gives his parents as this pair. It lists James' occupation as seaman (Merchant Service) and states his father is deceased.

The witnesses on son James' birth record are James Dalgarno & Geo. Dalgarno, which led me to a birth record for Margaret? I have not followed up to confirm this is the correct Margaret Dalgarno.
