I came across a reference to son Richard and his two marriages on WikiTree. This led me to his marriage and death records which all record his parents as James Mutch and Barbara Aiken. Richard was the witness on his mother's death registration, which listed her parents.

I also found Richard aged 11 on the 1851 census return for Moss of Orchardton, Udny living with his grandparents as further confirmation of his mother's identity.

There is a memorial inscription in Ellon churchyard erected by son Richard. It reads:

Erected by Richard Mutch in memory of his wife MARGARET MILNE who died 19th June 1896 also his daughter JEMIMA who died 28th May 1891 aged 24 years also the above RICHARD MUTCH who died at Free Schools Ellon on 20th May 1925 aged 8...... .....
