Webmaster's notes:

Details of son Alexander + Margaret Nairn are taken from the Cuthbert Nairn family tree on Derek Flockhart's webpages. William's parents were George + Helen Ogilvie.
I have found this family in the 1841 census living at Cockmuir, Rayne. William's occupation is given as butcher.
Rob Burr found the death entries for the sons who died in Australia. This led to me finding the last two sons births in IGI.
I found the death registration for son William on the Scotland's People site. His occupation is given as a Cattle Dealer. Parents are listed as William Mutch, butcher (deceased) and Isabella Mutch, m.s. Smith.
Jennie Davidson has contacted the site with the following information:

I live in Queensland, Australila and am descended from Alexander Mutch b/ ch 30 March 1838 Rayne parents: William Mutch b/ ch 10 May 1811 Rayne and Isabella Smith. Then from their first son born in Victoria, Australia, Alexander (b 12 Sept 1866) and his wife Alice Jessie Lovie (whose father John Lovie was b /ch 26 June 1829 at Kirktown, Aboyne, Aberdeenshire).

My mother Marlene (b. 1934) and grandmother Ruby May Mutch (b. 1906 4th daug of Alexander & Alice ) both grew up in Melbourne before moving to Queensland abt 1950.

Michele Lang contacted me with the following information on this family:

William Mutch W24 was my 3rd great-grandfather. They information listed for son William is incorrect. Marriage certificate says he was 23 yrs old when married to Jane Gall. Death certificate he was 58 when passed. Thus he had to be born about 1845. I am assuming William born 1837 passed before 1845, thus family used name again.

Further searching of the census records confirmed Michele's information and the existence of two additional sons - William number 2 and James.
Eleanor Quill contacted the website about her link to this family line:

"Peter Dick Mutch is my 2nd Great Grandfather with his father William being my 3rd Great Grandfather
