Webmaster's notes:

There is a stone for this family in New Deer kirkyard. The Inscription is:

"Erected by James Mutch blacksmith Stonehouse of Gight, parish of Fyvie in memory of his spouse Isobel Beatton d. 1 April 1829 aged 35. His second wife Mary Grant d. 21 Jan 1853 aged 62. Said James Mutch d. 11 May 1869 aged 74, his daughter Isabella d. 29 Nov 1871 aged 44.

I found the death registration for James which states he was a blacksmith and the widower of Mary Grant. His son William was the informant. It gives his parents as John (also a blacksmith) and Martha Greive.

I also have a copy of the original marriage entry for James and Isabel Beaton. This is entered in IGI as Thomas and Isabel Beaton, but someone has over written the original entry which clearly James.
