Scott Milne contacted me in 2010 to inform me that daughters Isabella and Georgina were wrongly entered in IGI as being children of John + Isabella Will, instead of this family. I somehow managed to mislay Scott’s email until I found an old paper copy in 2023!

Georgina’s death record and both the 1861 & 1871 Census records for Peterhead confirm that Scott was correct. My heartfelt apologies to him for the delay, but I have now corrected this by updating J70 and removing J81.

Scott wrote:

My Great Grandmother, Isabella Waddell Mutch, was married to my Great Grandfather, Alexander Scott Milne on 29 January 1875. Isabella Mutch was born in Peterhead, Scotland, the eldest daughter of John Mutch - John Mutch & Sons, Downiehills Brick and Tile Works. Her date of birth was March 27, 1852 and she died March 17, 1925.

Her mother, was Isabella Waddell, my GGG Mother. Isabella Waddell was married to John Mutch, November 1, 1851. They had many children: Isabella (my GG Mother) 1852. Georgina-Jan 15th 1854. John Mutch 1856. Margaret Mutch 1858.William Law Mutch 1860. John Mutch occupation varied from Labourer to tenant farmer and Brickmaker & Tile Manufacturer. My GG father and Mother residence was Seagate, Peterhead.

I can’t apologise too much to Scott, but we got there in the end!
