Her father was James Walls and her mother was Elspet Steele who were married 14 March 1793 in the parish of Fraserburgh.

Mary Mutch b. 1832 to John Mutch and Elspet Walls did not marry a Park. Her sister Christian had a daughter called Mary Jane Park born 11 Feb 1868 in Rathen, father unknown. Christian had another illegimate child: Margaret Morrice born 2 Jan 1875, Meighton, Rathen, father also unknown. Found this info while searching in Scotlands people to find out who the grandchildren were, who were living with John. Mutch in the 1881 census.

Further information on son James' second marriage to Isabella Greig Eddie in 1877 can be found in ANESFHS Ancestor Chart 7790.
More information on Isabella Eddie, second wife of son James, has been provided by Charles Taylor.
John's parents are shown as William + Elizabeth Thomson [W7] on ANESFHS Ancestor Chart 6152.
Karen also believes that John was a son of this couple, not William + Elizabeth Murrison as stated on John's death certificate. She has written:

I still have been puzzeling over the parents of John Mutch born 1802 in Strichen. We had down that his parents were William Mutch and Elizabeth Murrison. I now believe that the informant on John death got the mothers maidename wrong.

I looked at the children of William Mutch and Elizabeth Thomson. Now, we know that they had 2 sons John and George. I checked out info on George and found his death cert. in 1899. His parents are giving as William Mutch and Elizabeth Thomson. Like with the father of John, there fathers occ. is giving as Blacksmith. Also when checking the census records george gives his place of birth as Strichen, like John.

The informant on John death was his neighbour, so there could be a good chance that he got the name wrong. It would not be the first time I have come over this.

Karen also provided details of the illegitimate children of daughters Anne and Christian. She has confirmed that Anne's children William, Christian and Mary Ann together with Christian's children are shown as living with their grandparents John + Elspet Walls in the 1871 census.
Arthur Thomson sent me the following information about his link to daughter Ann Pirie:

Ann Pirie Mutch had illegitimate Twins b. 4 Sep 1859 Her Daughter Christian(Miller)Mutch, Married a George Thomson m.04 June 1882. Their Children were Christina b. 1883; Andrew b. 1891; Mary Ann b.1895. George Thomson parents are George Thomson & Isabella Jamieson. And George (Jr) is the brother of My Great Grandfather William Thomson.

Mary Mutch 1832-1914 married George Brown 1825-1893. Their son George Brown 1867-1922 was my great grandfather.He married Isabella Morrison McKnight 1870-1914. Their son James McKnight Brown 1902-1974 was my grandfather. He married Daisy May Glass 1907-1983. Their Daughter Doreen Mae Brown is my mother.
