Jim Irvine found the death registration for son Alexander which lead to this new family line. He wrote:

According to Alexander’s death certificate he was Alexander Johnston Mutch and he was the illegitimate (reputed) son of Alexander Mutch a general labourer and Margaret Johnston a mill worker.

He died aged 65 on 23rd Sep 1892 at 3 Stevenson Street Old Machar. He was a flax mill overseer and was married to Jane Beattie. Death was notified by his son Alex B Mutch of 22 Leadside Road Aberdeen.
