I came across a reference to son Richard and his two marriages on WikiTree. This led me to his marriage and death records which all record his parents as James Mutch and Barbara Aiken. Richard was the witness on his mother’s death registration, which listed her parents.

While searching for another James I found this couple’s son’s marriage record on Scotland’s People. The entry then led me to James’ baptism record where the witnesses are James & Geo. Dalgarno.

Another result of the work that Bob Shepherd has put into loading the details he had on the family of John + Ann Fraser/Frazer [J6] on to WikiTree has Alexander + Agnes Wedderburn [A49] as the Alexander son of John + Anne Milne [J13].

I came across the work that Bob Shepherd has put into loading the details he had on the family of John + Ann Fraser/Frazer [J6] on to WikiTree. He is related to thier daughter Elizabeth who married George Black.

Two sisters married two cousins - A16 & J58
Following some correspondence with Bob Shepherd on WikiTree I was struggling to understand how there could be two marriage records, within a year of each other, between James Mutch and Jane/Jessie Henry. Both showed the bride’s father was William Henry and her mother as either Catherine/Jean Bimblbe or Jane Dimlay and both James were cousins.

Maud Margaret Mutch (Molesworth) 'Mall', Australian Womens Open Champion - J77
Son Alexander’s daughter Maud was the dominant force in women’s tennis in Australia in the early 1920s. She was the first Australian Women National Champion in 1922 and went on to win again the following year.

Various updates from WikiTree.
Following another excellent ANESFHS web meeting I started exploring the WikiTree website which had been recommended as a quality resource. This lead me to finding additional detail on some of the family lines on the Mutches Website. These are not detailed here but by checking under Changelog on the menu you can see which family lines have been impacted.

Reconnection after 21 years! And new details of William, son of J59's family.
Dianne Varley/Blake contacted me way back at the beginning of this website as she is also descended from son William + Jessie Smith. She has now contacted me again with lots of details for the family of Maggie (daughter of George Mutch & Janet Smith Robertson) & Allan Thomson who emigrated to to Australia in 1955 aboard the SS New Australia.

I found a marriage record for James, son of John & Isobel Urquhart, and Barbara Esson on Scotland’s people.

I dowmloaded a copy of the marriage record between William Mutch and Mary Mutch. This confirmed Mary was the daughter of family line J73, John Mutch and Janet Gibson and that William was the son of family line J96, John Mutch and Isabel Beaton.

Correction to merge the J70 & J81 Family Lines under John + Isabella Waddle/Waddell
Scott Milne contacted me in 2010 to inform me that daughters Isabella and Georgina were wrongly entered in IGI as being children of John + Isabella Will, instead of this family. I somehow managed to mislay Scott’s email until I found an old paper copy in 2023!

Isabelle Sheldon while researching her Grandmothers ancestry discovered that Isabel, shown previously as the first child of John and Isabella Urquhart, was in fact born to Isabella Urquhart before her marriage to family line J94.

General tidy up of database
While testing the new mobile site files, I came across various small errors or inconsistancies in the data entered. These were not serious enough to list individualy so I’m lumping them together as part of the new website format launch.

Added a new Family Line G25 - George Musch + Issobell Spence
I found this couple’s marriage record on Scotland’s People some time ago but the spelling gave me some concerns as to whether it belonged with the Mutches or not. The entry gives George’s surname as “Musch” but I am assuming it is a phonetic variant and have added it.

An illigitemate daughter for the J59 Family Line
It is always particulaily difficult to verify, but Anna McCabe has done a lot of work to try and connect daughter Ann and her illigitemate child, Ann, to her family records. Rebooting After Technical Issues
A combination of technical issues, workload and the arrival of the next generation of my own family line, has meant that the website has not been updated as much as it should have been. My sincere apologies to anyone still waiting for a reply from me.
